Occupy Wilmington, NC is working on planning for community outreach on May 26th in Greenfield Lake park. Yes, it is memorial day weekend which may pose problems in terms of availabile teach-in guests, but if possible it could be a good chance for exposure. I have contacted people experienced in worker cooperatives to do a teach-in. The event is from 3pm to 7pm although we will have a small core group in Greenfield park earlier to occupy a picnic shelter and set up for a potluck dinner. Other teach-ins will be geared toward informing the public on corporate control of our government (exposing ALEC), voter suppression, and foreclosure fraud.

I think if we gave this event a more origanal title that still conveys the idea of food it would be more attractive to creative people. I was thinking of "Full Belly; Full Mind" except that could confuse this as an event put on by the Full Belly Project. Maybe somebody could see if Jock from FBP wants to do a teach-in?

COOL!!!!! This will be a recurring event too….. I am thinking monthly…….. it will allow us to meet together….. teach others about OCCUPY and feed the homeless.

Keenen, Who is doing the foreclosure teach-in? And did you ever figure out who was the person that came to GA and said they are willing to help anyone with a foreclosure? Was this an attorney?

I like the flyer Keenen, and think you should add something about foreclosure and "kids welcome" or something like that.

Do we want these printed out as flyers? If so, how many? Kinkos charges $0.75 a flyer through their online printing service.

I am at the library where it's 15 cents a copy. 20 for $3. I'll bring them to ga.

We need to have a dicussion on logistics as well. we will need orienteers to stand near the entrance into the park from the parking lot telling people what is going on.

I just posted the event all over.
Who is on task to "occupy" the picnic area so we are guaranteed a spot to eat?
I can speak a few minutes about foreclosures, if needed. I should have access to a software program by Saturday that can be downloaded online FREE in order to help folks with loan modifications. This software was developed by a local guy who is willing to speak to us (just not this weekend).
