On 11/4 the GA passed a proposal to pursue BUY LOCAL actions on 1 day a week leading up to Xmas (possibly beyond). Actions would involve a Occupy Wilmington members going to stores (possibly dressed alike) to hand out information on local alternatives (if you like this BIG BOX, you'll love this LOCAL STORE…) To make this happen, we need volunteers for a planning team to help pull this off.
I myself can create the informational handouts.

i am also wondering if we might consider amending this idea so that there is promotion on one day a week leading up to one well planned BUY LOCAL action.

I would like to be a part of this. I'm not sure I can go to any big box stores because of phobia issues but I would like to help put together information on alternative gifting. I might be able to handle hamding out material at mayfaire because it is outside.

I would like to be on the team (out of town wed.-13th). I think leafleting once a week is ok if the leaflets talk speak to facts about corporate consumerism as well as positive aspects of buying locally. Also only if we have enough people who can commit to dress alike (for more impact, especially a small group) & do the leafleting. I suggest we also do one or two flash mob events between now & Xmas (maybe more if we can get it together, ethan, alicia & I are working on this)

Hey folks, can someone report on any progress if its happened for this effort? I went out of town after the idea was proposed (and I'd offered to pull in interested folks). Now I'm back and like I said from the get-go I can help with back-end support, like with the flyer, but I'm not very available to participate in person because my schedule is so difficult with work, child, and a spouse working whenever I'm off. Please share an update if there is one…
